Blast Training Course

The blast training course offered by EESI aims to provide participants a basic understanding of the analysis and design methods for structures subjected to blast pressures. This two-and-a-half day training emphasizes considerations for blast threats at Nuclear Power Plants. Relevant industry codes and guidelines are presented. The course starts by defining key characteristics of blast dynamics. With a fundamental understanding of blast pressure propagation established, the course moves into the principles of structural analysis/design for reinforced concrete and structural steel. Blast secondary effects (i.e. human and equipment tolerance, in-leakage pressure, etc.) are also discussed. Other special topics covered include: concrete masonry, glazing, and blast doors.

This course is intended for persons with a technical background in civil/structural engineering or a related field. Prior experience with blast evaluation is not required. For more information, please contact us.
